Lambert, Edwards & Associates donates $10,000 to YMCA for swim lessons

Information provided by Lambert, Edwards and Associates:

Thursday Jeff Lambert, the president and managing partner of Lambert, Edwards & Associates, presented a $10,000 check to the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids.

The donation will fund swim lessons for urban youth at the Greater Grand Rapids and Metro Detroit YMCA brances.

The U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports drowning is the second leading cause of injury-related death among children under the age of 15.

Westsiders look forward to Millennium Beach & Splash pad

The steamy temperatures the past couple of days have many westsiders looking forward to spending time at Millennium Park.

The Millennium Beach & Splash pad is still closed for the season but will soon reopen to welcome the crowd.

The Zumba craze continues on the westside.

Denise Nelson is starting to offer classes at the Social Dance Studio on Lake Michigan Drive.

Snap Fitness expands on Lake Michigan Drive

I stopped in Snap Fitness on Lake Michigan Drive the other day.

The parking lot was packed and there was a steady flow of people working out during the mid-afternoon.

When I talked to the manager on site, he told me that he's expanded the 24-hour fitness facility to include more room for free weights and to for instructors to hold classes like Zumba.

Cost of Summer Tennis Lessons Increases in Grand Rapids

The City of Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Department has formed a new partnership with the Michigan Athletic Club (MAC) to provide tennis lessons for youth beginning in the summer of 2011. A number of changes have been implemented to make the program more beneficial for the participants and more financially sustainable for the City of Grand Rapids.
