Take Advantage of the DTE Energy Offer

Take Advantage of the DTE Energy Offer

I am not a person for letting just anyone into my home but after talking to one of my neighbors, I think I would take DTE Energy up on this deal.

My neighbor told me her daughter had the Energy Checkup from DTE at no charge to her and was very pleased. What a great way to get ready for the cold winter months & save on air in the summer.

DTE will arrange for one of their employees to come to your home but before coming, they will contact you to let you know and the person will show up with proper ID. Once there, they will go through your home and point out things that may need to be addressed and help save you money. They will also put faucet aerators on both your kitchen & bathroom faucets, wrap your water pipes and replace your shower heads with water saving devices.

All of the above is done for you at no cost and well worth the visit according to my neighbor. The visit takes approximately one-half hour.

Fresh Vegetables in the Fall

Fresh Vegetables in the Fall

Michigan apples and other fruit took a hit this year because of the unusual weather we had but don’t forget about the fresh vegetables.

In speaking with a gal at Brechting’s Farm Market on 6 Mile NW, just west of Alpine Ave NW here in Grand Rapids, MI she told me their market traffic is down. She said most people refer to farm markets as a fruit stand but she was quick to point out, we may not have all the fruit we want to sell this year but we have lots of fresh vegetables at our stand.

The market is open Monday-Saturday from 9-6 and Sunday from noon-6 through the month of November.

Family Fare building new westside Gas Station

Family Fare building new westside Gas Station

While shopping at the Family Fare store located on the corner of Lake Michigan Dr. NW & Collindale in Grand Rapids over the weekend, I was shocked to see heavy equipment working in a fenced in area in the parking lot at this store.

When I asked Dort, one of the long time employees, what was happening, she told me they were building a gas station. Dort said the store give credits to customers who earn them through shopping and these credits can be used to buy gas in many cases or at least make gas available to customers at a lower cost. This will certainly make it more convenient for customers who frequent this location.

Be on the lookout for the opening of this new gas station.
