GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.--- Consumers in West Michigan are more optimistic about what 2015 will bring.

In fact, consumers in this market are the most optimistic in the region, according to a new study released by Huntington Bank.  The financial firm found local residents say they are much more likely to buy a new vehicle this year; 17 percent said they plan to purchase a new car, compared to just four percent in 2014.

Home improvement stores may also be busy; 47-percent of West Michiganders surveyed for the Huntington Bank Midwest Economic Index said they were planning some home renovations for 2015, compared to 32 percent in 2014.

This campaign will make a difference for those giving & those receiving. Those giving, it will help clean out closets, which in-turn provides giving back to the community. My Town GR West: Remnants of shuttered GRPS school up for auction

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.— What’s left of Covell Elementary School is going on the auction block this week.

Grand Rapids Public Schools will be auctioning off the remaining assets of the former school from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.  Items up for bid became available for viewing on Biddergy’s website and at Covell Elementary School Wednesday.  They include vehicles, kitchen equipment, sporting goods, shop equipment, preschool items, furniture, desks, tools and electronics.  Several oak dining tables, a trampoline, pianos and ball pit balls are all on the auction block.

Bids will be accepted on Biddergy’s website.  Those who do not have computer access but wish to place a bid can contact the auction company at (866) 260-1611.

My Town: City vehicles up for bid in July 17 auction

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich.—The City of Grand Rapids is auctioning off some of its wheels.

Six vehicles used by the city will be up for bid beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 17.   The vehicles include three Ford Crown Victoria police cruisers, one Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck and two GMC Sierra pick-up trucks. 

The auction will take place at M & W Inc., located at 979 West River Center Drive NE in Comstock Park.  All buyers should be prepared to pay in cash or check.  To view the vehicles, visit the auction site here.
