UPDATE: West Ottawa celebrates 'Spirit Bracket Challenge' victory

HOLLAND, Mich.-- Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar will reward the winner of its “Spirit Bracket Challenge” November 5.

The restaurant organized the friendly fundraising competition as a way to promote school spirit while helping a dozen local schools raise money for classroom supplies and school activities.

Kenowa Hills 6th grade/Alpine Elementary and West Ottawa High School were the last two competitors standing, besting ten other schools in the Teriyaki 12 and Spicy 6 fundraising rounds.  In the end, West Ottawa won the Flamin’ Finals.  In addition to the funds students raised throughout the competition, West Ottawa will get an additional $2,500 from Buffalo Wild Wings.  The school will be rewarded with a special check during its celebratory pep rally Tuesday, November 5.

West Michigan Labor Fest returns with freebies September 2

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.—The community is invited to celebrate Labor Day with the West Michigan Labor Fest September 2 in Ah-Nab-Awen Park.

This is the fifth year for the Labor Fest, which begins shortly after Mayor George Heartwell’s bridge walk.  The event includes free admission to the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum, which is celebrating what would have been President Ford’s 100th birthday. Visitors can also enjoy live music, food from local restaurants, arts and crafts vendors, the American Made Classic Car & Motorcycle Show and a beer tent.  Children can hitch a free ride on a mini Ferris wheel or check out the bouncy house, Berry-Go-Round, games, chalk art and face painting.

Founders Brewing Co. rolls out official beer of ArtPrize

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.--  Founders Brewing Company is offering a new beer that will benefit ArtPrize.

“Inspired Artist Black IPA,” will be available on tap at Founders Brewery starting Monday August 19.  The new brew will go on sale for a limited time starting Monday, August 26.  The new brew is brewed using malted midnight wheat and a variety of hops with tropical characteristics. It comes in at a 7.5% ABV and 88 IBUs.

 Inspired Artist will be available on draft and in 12 oz. bottles, at a retail price of $9.99 per six pack.
