LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been arrested in Las Vegas on a felony theft charge stemming from a domestic violence complaint by his ex-girlfriend.

Las Vegas police Officer Bill Cassell says the 33-year-old Mayweather was booked Friday at the Clark County jail on a grand larceny charge. He's being held on $3,000 bail.

Mayweather's lawyer, Richard Wright, says the charge stems from an allegation that Mayweather took an iPhone from Josie Harris, his ex-girlfriend and mother of three of his children.

Harris made a police complaint and sought a protection order Thursday from a Family Court judge.

She claims Mayweather hit her during a confrontation at her home in Las Vegas.

Wright denies Mayweather committed any crime.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.(WZZM) - If you want to visit ArtPrize this year, but don't like searching for a parking place downtown, organizers have a new solution.

Tuesday ArtPrize, Meijer and the Rapid announced plans to offer six free parking sites at six area Meijer Stores and provide a shuttle into the city.

"Last year more than 200,000 people visited ArtPrize,:" said Rick Devos, ArtPrize founder, "This year, we are doing more to integrate public transportation with our shuttle service to help our visitors get the most out of ArtPrize."

After arriving in the three-square-mile ArtPrize district, guests will also have an opportunity to ride the ArtPrize shuttle throughout the five neighborhoods within the district and six exhibition centers.

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Longer school days or a longer calendar year -- that's what Governor Jennifer Granholm wants for Michigan school children.

This week Gov. Granholm challenged state lawmakers to extend the school year, requiring districts to be in session for more than 180 days a year. The current requirement is at least 165 days.

"When you look at it compared to the international community, you look at those countries that are our so called competitors...they have significantly more instructional school days than we do," says John Helmholdt, spokesman for Grand Rapids Public Schools. "I think that is a reality check that is coming into view right now. The United States was number one at one, bar none, in public education. We have slipped, I haven't seen how far down that list, but it is something like 60. They are challenging the status quo and clearly the status quo is not good enough."
