Seniors Helping Seniors gather for annual picnic | News

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - The third annual Seniors Helping Seniors picnic was Thursday morning at St. Peter & Paul Church. But the wet and dreary day didn't put a damper on the event celebrating the hard work of seniors who are part of the organization.

The picnic gives people a chance to keep in touch with friends, and stay active in the community. David Vanderlinde Jr. says Seniors Helping Seniors provides a variety of services.

"We do a lot of transportation meal preparation, companionship, those thing around the house that a senior might not be able to do anymore."

Ken Kole of Wyoming received the 2012 Caregiver of the Year award.
