Trial delayed for GR woman charged with ethnic intimidation | News
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- A judge has postponed the trial of a Grand Rapids woman charged with ethnic intimidation.
Police say 56-year-old Judy Syrek threatened three black people with a pellet gun near her home on Jackson Street over the summer.
Her trial was scheduled to begin Monday, but a judge adjourned the proceedings to give lawyers more time to review evidence. Investigators say Syrek was upset because the group's dog had defecated on her lawn.
The ethnic intimidation charge carries a two year prison sentence.
Syrek also faces an assault charge, which is worth four years in prison.
