GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- A man who prompted a police standoff on the northwest side of Grand Rapids Thursday afternoon has been charged.

Matthew Hendrik Vandyken, 38, was arraigned Friday on a charge of receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle, a 10-year felony. He's held on $10,000 bond.

Police investigating a possible housing violation at Vandyken's home on Garfield near Atlantic say they found that stolen vehicle out back. When investigators with a search warrant made contact with Vandyken, he first tried fleeing before running back in his home and refusing to come out. Officers arrested him a few hours later.

His next court date is November 5.
