Pedestrian hit on Grand Rapid's Northwest side

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- Grand Rapids Police are investigating an accident involving pedestrian and a car. It happened shortly after 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of Lane and Chatham on the city's Northwest side.

Investigators believe there was a fight between the 21 year old pedestrian and the people inside an SUV. Police say the SUV drove around the block, came back, and hit the man in the street. He was found conscious in the street and taken to Butterworth Hospital. He is listed in critical condition, with life threatening injuries. The driver took off before police arrived.

Police closed part of Chatham during the investigation.

GRPD is looking for the SUV and the driver. They say it's large and dark colored, possibly a Chevy Suburban. It may have damage from the incident.
