Gilda's Club to host West Side Walk
News

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- For nearly 15 years, Gilda's Club Grand Rapids has provided emotional support for those affected by cancer. And, this weekend it's starting a new movement to touch the lives of those in the community. Gilda's is holding an inaugural West Side Walk and Block Party this Saturday.

The event aims to highlight the growing success of the west side community as well as what Gilda's Club has accomplished in Grand Rapids.

According to the official press release: "The West Side Walk for Gilda's Club is a fall pledge walk event and community open house/block party that will start and end at Gilda's Club on our beautiful property here on Bridge Street. With such great energy surrounding the west side movement, coupled with all of the great new business and development in the area we wanted to create an all-ages, free event, that would not only support Gilda's Club and the important work we're doing for our community members living with cancer and grief, but also provide an opportunity for neighboring residents and businesses."

The free event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 3 at Gilda's Club Grand Rapids. Registration opens at 11 a.m. The 1.5 mile walk begins at 12 p.m. with the block party taking place between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

In addition to the first ever walk, Gilda's is teaming up once again the American Cancer Society for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Bra Decorating Event.

That will take place between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1 at Gilda's Club Grand Rapids. That is located at 1806 Bridge St. NW. Gilda's invites anyone living with or supporting someone with breast cancer to attend.
