Kids Guide To Art Prize!

Kids Guide To Art Prize!

It’s exciting to watch ArtPrize grow each year.  It’s exciting to show off Grand Rapids and while the crowds would drive me nuts after a while; the energy downtown is amazing.

It’s a little different with kids though.  Maybe yours are the type that will sit through an artists’ reception.  Or not touch when it says, “Don’t Touch”.  How awesome for you.  For those of you with kids like mine, I have created a:

Security Provider to host "Child Safety Day" at John Ball Park

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The U.S. Department of Justice reports that more than 2,000 children under age 18 go missing each day. West Michigan’s leading security provider, EPS Security, is supporting children’s safety by hosting a FREE child fingerprinting event at John Ball Park on Saturday, Sept. 17 from noon to 4 p.m.

The event, called EPS Security Life Safety Day with KlaasKids Foundation, is free and open to all families who wish to participate.

If the fire and police vehicles, air brush tattoos, music, bounce houses and free hot dogs aren’t enough to entice parents and families to come, EPS will provide additional incentive by pledging a donation of $10 to D.A. Blodgett and Kids’ Food Basket for each child fingerprinted at the event. The company hopes to raise more than $5,000 for these important West Michigan children’s charities.

Attend an infant car seat safety class August 17

Attend an infant car seat safety class August 17

Did you know that motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death and injury to young children? Or that a properly installed infant car seat can reduce the risk of death by nearly 71 percent?

Results of a 2009 Survey of Child Restraint Device prepared for the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning by Wayne State University showed that close to 78 percent of the child restraint devices were being used incorrectly – the most common and problematic misuses were associated with the harness straps not being tight enough on the child and the harness retainer clip being positioned too low.

If you're concerned about the safety of your young ones, consider signing up for Spectrum Health's Infant Car Seat Safety Class scheduled for 6:30 pm, Wednesday, August 17, 2011. The class will be held at 665 Seward Avenue NW, Suite 110, Grand Rapids...
