Celtic Festival in Sparta on Saturday, August 8th

Whether you are Irish or not, Sparta, MI is the place to be on Saturday, August 8th for their Celtic Festival. The party begins at 10:45am at Rogers Park with the blessing of the Bagpipes!

The Festival will feature 5 Irish Bands, one of them being Pet in the Creel with Toby Bresnahan, five Dance Troupes, Celtic Food & Craft Vendors and a children’s area from noon until 5pm. At 9pm, Paddy’s Road takes the stage to close the festival.

Rogers Park is located at 75 N. Union St. Events will also take place at Balyeat Park, located at 208 Olmstead St.

Del Shannon Days Celebration this Week

The 25th Annual Summerfest Celebration featuring Del Shannon Days in Coopersville, MI unofficially started on Saturday, August 1st with “Quilts and their Stories” Show. There are more than 140 different quilts to view on display. Officially the festival was renamed the “Del Shannon Days” in 2014.

Antique tractors go on display at the Farm Museum on Tuesday, August 4th. Del Shannon Days officially kicks off from 4 – 8pm Wednesday, the 5th with “Kids Fest,” held at the corner of Main & Mason St.  The Teddy Bear Parade starts at 5pm. There will be plenty of different games and events for children throughout the celebration.

Friday Night, the 7th, features the Annual “Car Cruise” starting at 6pm throughout the Village ending at Keyser Manufacturing for the after-cruise party. Saturday, the 8th will feature more than 600 show cars, trucks and motorcycles. The show runs all day beginning at 7am.

It is Festival Time once again at St. Joseph’s Church in Wright Township on Sunday, August 9, 2015  from 12 Noon until 5:00pm.

A great Country Style BBQ Chicken Dinner will be served from Noon until 4:00pm. Dinner is $8.00 for Adults and $5.00 for Children ages 5 – 12 years of age. Under 5 will eat FREE!

Along with live music, there will be games for children through teenagers, a Grand Raffle, quilt and mini raffles, craft booths, bake sale, a grocery wheel with home grown produce as prizes and a Vegas Tent.  A little bit for everyone!

Beer, Bands and BBQ start the Celebration July 3rd in Grandville for the 4th of July

July 3rd starts the celebration for the 4th of July in Grandville, MI when the 2nd Annual Beer, Band and BBQ kicks off in downtown Grandville, near the Library parking lot from 4:00 – 11:00pm.

People of all ages are welcome to join in with the live music and dinner served from 4:00 – 8:00pm with a variety of BBQ food items from $2.00 - $10.00. The live music will continue until 11:00pm but you must be 21 years of age to be in the Beer Tent after 8:00pm. Feel free to bring along a lawn chair to sit around the outside of the tent.

A variety of beer, wine coolers and Osgood Brewing will offer Sol Seeker and Journey. One hundred 2015 Beer, Band and BBQ decorative mugs will be sold for $5.00. VFW Post 702 will have flags and jewelry available for small donations for the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.

DeVos Place is Celebrating 10 Years with an Open House for Everyone

DeVos Place, West Michigan’s Premier Entertainment Destination in Grand Rapids, MI. is celebrating their 10th Anniversary with a celebration for everyone. This event takes place Saturday, June 13, 2015 from 10am – 5pm.

This event will feature a Ferris wheel, carousel, fun, family activities and games, prizes, mascots and much more! Parking will be free under the convention center (as space allows) during the event.

The first 10,000 people inside the doors will received a FREE hot dog and Pepsi. Entertainment will feature music and entertainment from bands, Jump with Jill, a magician and more. You might be the winner of one of the gift cards or concert tickets to be given away hourly.

From 10am – 5pm the Northeast Stage will present acts from Alysha Sha, Jump with Jill, Freehand GR, Gabriel Estrada III “ El Charro Del Norte”, Jeremy Verwys, Lefty Malone and The Diemakers.

Let’s Go to Bat for Kids!!

Thursday, June 25, 2015 is the day to be at 5/5 Ballpark at 5:30. Bring all the kids, admission is FREE. Parking is $6 per car but the evening includes children’s games and activities along the concourse, local mascots and a fun night at the ballpark.

In 2014, Catholic Charities of West Michigan welcomed over 4500 West Michigan fans for this event. Let’s see if we can break that record this year, 2015. This event benefits the family strengthening programs of CCWM that help keep families together here in our community.

This ballgame is played by clergy, religious leaders on the Padres team and media celebrities on the Media Giants team.
