New Yard Waste Dumpsters in Grand Rapids

New Yard Waste Dumpsters in Grand Rapids

Yard waste collection starts up again this Friday April 1st in the City of Grand Rapids and this year they have a new collection choice. The 96 gallon one-time cart cost for home owners is $27.50. Each time you put your cart on the curb it will also cost an additional $5.25 for the yellow pick-up tag.  Yard waste pick-up is the same day as regular garbage and recycling. You must order your cart in person at 201 Market Street during regular business hours Monday through Friday 7:30 am until 4-pm. The yard waste cart will then be delivered to your home address. The city is still offering large brown paper yard waste bags and purple tags that can be purchased at local retail outlets, stores and the neighborhood fire station. The tags are $1.50 each, and the bags are five for $7.50. For more information on the city's new Yard Waste Carts, please visit their website at grcity.us and search for the yard waste page.

More green space for Grand Rapids West?

More green space for Grand Rapids West?

Rumor has it that the former Stocking School property just may be turned into a park for everyone to enjoy. and the best part of all this is that it may be done without taxing residents. Wouldn't that be great!

It is well known that this area on the west side of Grand Rapids has less green space than any other comparable property in the city. Having a place for kids and adults alike to spend time outside is a good thing.

Stay tuned for a follow-up on this project as it becomes available.
