Military Wall Of Honor at Coopersville High School

Military Wall Of Honor at Coopersville High School

Warren Warber, a recently retired teacher from Coopersville High School, has started a project of remembrance. Warren was the industrial arts teacher for many, many years at the school. Although he was never able to enter any of the military branches because of a broken back, he  wants to have members of the military who graduated from Coopersville,  remembered on a wall near the high school’s west entrance where students getting on and off the buses each day are made aware of the sacrifices of war.

The Coopersville Rotary along with several other veterans groups are working with Mr. Warber on this project. The wall has been erected and now it is just a matter of people submitting their photo and military records to be posted on the wall. Several veterans from World War II have already sent their information along. Information and photos should be sent to: Wall of Honor, Coopersville Area Public Schools, 198 East St., Coopersville, MI. 49404

Glow Ball Golf Fundraiser Event at the Pines

Terry Hunt is heading up a Charity event on September 11th and then again on September 18th for his sister in law Monica Hunt, 53 years of age, who is suffering from cancer.

This will be an unusual event; it’s Glow Ball Golf, to be held at the Pines located at 5050 Byron Center Ave, phone number 616-538-8380. Terry and his family are paying for all the equipment to be used for this unusual event and all the equipment will remain at the golf course for charity events to be held in the future, thereby saving participants a lot of money.

This event is scheduled to start at dusk on both dates but participants are asked to be at the golf course one hour earlier. The cost for this event is $35 on September 11th and $25 on September 18th. It will be 4-man teams but if you do not have a team to play with, don’t let that stop you. You will be paired up with other people so you can play. Terry can be reached at 616-406-7701.

Fund Raiser for The Dave Weykamp Family

Fund Raiser for The Dave Weykamp Family

A fund raiser is being planned for the Dave Weykamp Family, to be held at St. Peter & Paul’s School Gym, in Grand Rapids, MI on Saturday, October 17th at 5:30pm.

Dave Weykamp, age 52, passed away on December 28, 2014 after months of treatment for AML Leukemia. His wife Jill has been fighting Multiple Myeloma since April of 2013, while still caring for their two sons, Anthony & Nicholas. Right now she is in a state of remission, thanks to all the medical treatments and prayers from many people.

As any family knows who has been touched by this disease, treatment costs are staggering, leaving families in dire straits. Thus, the reason behind this fund raiser event, being put together by the Boy Scout Troop that both Weykamp boys belong to.
