GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Sept. 29, 2011—West Michigan’s leading security provider, EPS Security, recently held a FREE child fingerprinting event at John Ball Park and encouraged families to participate by pledging a $20 donation to local charities--$10 each to Kids’ Food Basket and D.A. Blodgett. Nearly 500 kids participated in the Sept. 17 event, allowing EPS to donate a $5,000 check this week to each of the West Michigan-based non-profit organizations.

The event, called EPS Security Life Safety Day with KlaasKids Foundation, included fire and police vehicles, musical performances, bounce houses, air-brushed tattoos and free food and beverages for the families.  EPS partnered with The KlaasKids Foundation, a leading child safety advocate group, to provide the state-of-the-art fingerprinting program.

“We decided to turn our annual company picnic at the park into a citywide community event to celebrate the notion of safety,” said Kevin Carlson, president of EPS Security. “We were blessed with a beautiful day and a great event that allowed us to make nearly 500 West Michigan families more secure while making a donation that will hopefully provide assistance for countless others.”

KlaasKids founder, Marc Klaas, was in attendance to underscore the importance of updated child identification records. For more information on proactive child identification, please visit KlassKids.org.
