ArtPrize Attendees Ideas Inspire More Conveniences, Easier Access, Additional Features and New Solut

The ArtPrize team has been hard at work to make the ArtPrize experience even more enjoyable and accessible, incorporating suggestions and ideas from participants. Look forward to more conveniences and shorter waits, additional merchandise, and the opportunity to pitch in. Along with experiencing profound sights and feelings, we can hear dialog from the artists, listen to live music and get a delicious taste of ArtPrize neighborhoods inspired chocolates.

Monarch Madness at the John Ball Zoo

Monarch Madness at the John Ball Zoo

Saturday, August 27, 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Come join us and help send 300+ monarchs on their way to Mexico. In partnership with Michigan Butterflies, a locally owned company specializing in monarch butterflies, we are tagging and releasing 300+ butterflies. We will also send some visitors home with a monarch chrysalis that will emerge into a butterfly that can be released at home.

The event will run from 11am - 3pm with butterfly releases happening at the top of each hour on the boardwalk that overlooks Monkey Island. Visitors will have the opportunity to enter a drawing to win the chance to hand-release the butterflies. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about monarchs through hands-on activities and witness hundreds fly into the air to begin their magical 2,000+ mile journey southward to Mexico.

All monarch event activities are free with zoo admission. We hope to see you there!
