Fashion's night out Grand Rapids is on the horizon

From: http://www.fashionsnightoutgr.com/

For the second year in a row the world will be celebrating Fashion's Night Out together. It all started last year in New York when the United Council of Fashion Designers of America, American Vogue, NYC & Company, and the City of New York created FNO to help patrons understand the vast industry of fashion and how it helps our economy. Fashion is the largest industry in New York City. The industry employs 175,000 New Yorkers which creates $10 billion in total wages. None of these jobs exist if people don't shop. That is why it was time to make shopping fun again.

Fashion's Night Out Grand Rapids has been in the planning stage for months, but now the time is almost here. On September 10th retail stores around Grand Rapids will come together for the first time in support of one thing, “making shopping fun again”. To start out the night there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony with Mayor Heartwell at six o'clock. In total, there are 45 stores in four areas participating in the night by planning an event in their store and staying open from 6pm to 11pm. To compliment the night we have 12 restaurants that will serve food to hungry shoppers until 1am.

Each store has a unique presence and story behind it, so you can expect a variety of events and happenings throughout the night. There will be five trolleys that go through Uptown, East Grand Rapids and the downtown area to help people move about and get to their favorite shops. There will also be a city wide clothing drive to help the Heartside Mission with winter clothing, so clean out your closet to make room for your new pieces. This event is all about shopping your favorite local retailer.
